When I first saw you
My heart skipped a beat
It was love at first sight
You were the woman of my dreams
Yeah, I know
These are cliché pickup lines
Today, let me use them on you
And I'll make new ones everyday
For the rest of our lives

This poem I write
Serves as both a love letter
And my own requiem
Because I loved you to death
PUMICE HEART
People keep taking their place in my heart
And leaving just when I had gotten attached to them
As they go, they take a piece of it with them
Leaving gaps and holes in my heart
Now my heart is like pumice rock
Not as hard, but just as porous
CHOICES
We are the choices we make. Who’s to say that you would be the person you are now if you had slept for one more minute, if you had eaten something different that day, if you had picked up that phone call, if you had skived that lecture, if you had prayed on that day, if you had helped that person in need? Even the most minute decisions we make ultimately change the course of our lives, and define us as people. If we all made same decisions, would there be any disparity between us as people? No, we would only be copies of each other.
Decisions define us. So don’t try to live like someone else to a tee. Be yourself, make your own story, create yourself, force yourself into the books of history.
LABYRINTH
Everyone who's ever met me
Says I've put up a thousand walls around me
To keep out people trying to make connection
Well, that's just a half truth
In your perspective, you see countless walls
If you look at the bigger picture, you'll see
That they're not what you think they are
In actuality, it's a massive maze
And only the ones dedicated, or wanting
Can find and enter through the entrance outside
Go through the paths, take every corner
Turn on the dead ends as you inch even closer
And find me, who's in the middle of it all
So no, I haven't put up walls
That I'd need to tear down
I've set up an intricate labyrinth
One that filters out the ones who care about me
From the ones who don't care enough to try
Look for me, o beloved
I wait for you at the dead center
Let the struggle make your intentions known
I need you to show me
A way out of my own labyrinth
Take me out of this trap of my own making
Show me how to open up again
PURSUIT FOR PURPOSE
A dream remains just that
Until you act to make it happen
"An object remains in its state
Of rest or uniform motion
Unless acted upon by an external force"
So stand up, stand firm
Do all that you possibly can
To weave your dreams, your imagination
Into the fabric of reality
Nothing tastes sweeter, nothing hits harder
Than the pursuit for purpose
MALICE
I didn't know that her heart was covered by callus
I made her queen over my precious palace
Whenever I bleed, she would reach for the chalice
She's so distant, just as far as Dallas
When I loved her first, her name being Alice
I did not know, in her was so great a malice
Not Just The Heart
When he flirted with you back then
Did you fall in love,
Or did you fall to your lowest?
When he told you the words "I love you"
Did you say them back
Or you said "Me too"(I love me too)?
When he told all those jokes
Did you laugh because the jokes were funny
Or did you laugh at him, who to you was a joke?
When he poured out his heart to you, for you
Did you cup your hands, take it in, every single drop
Or did you let it wash over your feet as he let it all out
When he told you his dreams and aspirations
Did you think "Yes, we can make it work"
Or was it "No, you won't make it"
When he told you that he always had your back
Did you say it back,
Or were you plotting how to stab him in his?
When you were bored and done with him
You didn't just break his heart
You broke the man too
Break With Care
Dear lovers
Before you go out there
Breaking the hearts of your infatuated lovers
Just remember this
Not everyone takes heartbreak so well
In some cases, you're not breaking just the heart
You're breaking the person, you're breaking the soul
And just like that, this individual snaps
In one possibility, the guy is angry
And he takes out his anger
On the man that accidentally bumped into him
So the man finds himself in the hospital
And because of you, the way you handled the situation
The doctor is finding trouble, gathering courage
To tell the man that his days on his feet are over
Because he'll never walk again
In another scenario, the lady with the Chevy
Drove to her favorite bar
And took a couple of beers too many
Pain clouded her judgement, so she decided to drive
She didn't see the red light and the man crossing the road
Boom, it's a hit and run
The man, a single dad, passed on seconds after impact
And now, the cop looking into the hit and run
Has to walk up to the deceased man's house
And, filled with remorse for the culprit
Tell the 12-year old kid that dad's not coming home
"Because dad's gone, kiddo"
So, before you extinguish that dull flame
That once burned so bright in both of you
Do it retrospectively
In this case, don't rip the bandaid off
Do it with care and compassion
Even though there's no way it won't hurt
Do it in a way that makes the hurt less
So that when the heart is broken
Within the shattered pieces, a new flame can be found
One that can reforge the heart into a new one
So,when you break someone's heart
Please, break it with care...
ECLIPSE : BENDING THE RULES
She was there when life sprung and advanced on that planet
Hovering, bound to the body to preserve the peace
For without her, the place would spiral into chaos
She can't get closer for a better look
At what she gave her whole life for
For there would be catastrophic consequences
She can't up and leave
The planet needs her presence in its vicinity
So, by choice, by heart, she sticks around
Because she found love in the life on that planet
But this hovering being is sad, dismayed
Because she lives in the shadow of the planet
And only by the light of a star can she be seen
Only when the star and planet choose for her to be seen
And when this happens
Life is on a standstill on the planet
But there's this rare moment
Where she defies the status quo
And she wants to be seen in the daylight
So she intervenes in the sun's routine
For the star shines brighter
Than the light she reflects from it
If life won't see her light during the day
Then it shall see her shadow during this time
For once, very rarely she steals the show
And makes herself known to the planet's life
And, indeed, she is a sight to behold in her rebellion
For,once, she finds a loophole
To be seen during the day
And make the star not to be
To be recognized by a peculiar way
By casting a shadow, instead of shining a light
Doesn't break the rules, but finds a way
Once every long time, she treats itself
To being the talk of the day
Instead of being the norm of the night
She leaves her post in a turned-off world
And goes to a world teeming with bustling vigor
And, oh, how the tables have turned
The star in the shadow, and her in the spotlight
Quite the paradox, wouldn't you say?
